Dr. Kathryn Bowles, VP and director of research center recently received the Welch/Woerner Path-Paver Award from the Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research (FNINR). The award recognizes experienced nurse scientists who’ve made breakthroughs in theory development, research methods, instruments, or trailblazed topics to pave the way for other scientists to research. It also honors those who’ve mentored and inspired the next generation of researchers.
Kathryn’s research program involves clinical decision support for discharge planning, transitions in care, and home care with vulnerable older adults. She has served on many national committees and workgroups like the National Quality Forum and Care Coordination Steering Committee to improve the quality and accessibility of care for older adults. She was appointed to the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) Advisory Council and also delivered the NINR Director’s Lecture in 2016. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and the American College of Medical Informatics.
