Recognition & Awards

We’re excited to announce that our Nurse Residency Program has been officially accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This significant achievement places VNS Health among a select group of home care organizations worldwide, with only five others holding this prestigious accreditation. The accreditation highlights the excellence of our Nurse Residency Program and our commitment to providing education and support for new nurses.

The ANCC’s Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) sets the global standard for residency and fellowship programs that transition registered nurses (RNs) with less than 12 months of experience into new roles. Elizer Cooper-Audain, AVP of Education & Professional Development, expressed the significance of the team’s accomplishment: “This accreditation is one of the highest forms of recognition for a nurse residency program, and it will help us attract even more highly qualified nurse residents to our program. Achieving it was a truly collaborative team effort.”

The accreditation not only highlights the program’s quality of education but also enhances our ability to recruit and retain talented nurses, ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care. This milestone reflects our dedication to advancing nursing and the home care field and improving health care outcomes for our neighbors and their communities.

About the Nurse Residency Program

VNS Health’s Nurse Residency Program is a special, hands-on, paid training program designed to help new nurses or nurses with little experience enter home care. The program includes classroom instruction, hands-on clinical home care experiences supervised under a nurse preceptor, and mentorship from nurse educators and program managers.

Participants will improve their clinical skills, learn to provide evidence-based care, promote quality and safety outcomes for patients, and develop decision-making and leadership abilities. The program helps nurses attain competency within six months, after which they graduate and continue to work as full-time RNs with VNS Health. The program also includes union membership with the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), offering competitive salaries, retirement savings plans, generous paid time off, and exceptional tuition reimbursement plans.

Associate and baccalaureate prepared registered nurses with one-year or less experience and a New York State RN license are eligible for the program.
