Integrated Mental Health & Substance Use Treatment

VNS Health has expanded our behavioral health services to meet the needs of more people of all ages in our communities, from one accessible location in the South Bronx.

Mental health and substance use conditions often occur together — and should be addressed together. That’s why as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), we are providing fully integrated mental health and substance use treatment.

This approach builds on the home- and community-based behavioral health services we’ve offered for nearly 40 years throughout New York City. At our Bronx clinic, we deliver even more integrated mental health and substance use services to support youth and adults in crisis and treat those with complex mental illnesses and substance use conditions.

What Is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC)?

CCBHCs operate under a nationwide model that is considered the gold standard of whole-person, evidence-based behavioral health care. VNS Health has established a CCBHC with federal funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This clinic includes a licensed outpatient clinic that provides evidence-based, trauma-informed integrated mental health and substance use disorder treatment. This newly opened clinic fills an extremely important need, both for our Bronx community and throughout New York City.

A CCBHC must meet special criteria for both the range of services it provides and the easy access it offers for people to receive care quickly. The hub of these services is our clinic in the South Bronx, where vulnerable community members face high trauma and poor health outcomes.

Do You Work with Community Partners?

Collaborating with local partners is vital to our vision of holistic, coordinated care across the Bronx. Our partner network includes hospitals, physician practices, city agencies, community-based organizations, and housing and other social determinant providers. We work closely with them to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of care.

Where Are CCBHC Services Available?

While the Bronx clinic is our CCBHC hub, VNS Health’s integrated mental health and substance use treatment services are available to anyone in the five boroughs of New York City who is in need. The clinic is open evenings and on Saturdays, so working people, school-age children, and families can get help when and where they need it.
