Our Medicare and Medicaid health plan members now have improved access to specialized behavioral health care, thanks to a partnership between VNS Health and Vitalic, a recently launched geriatric behavioral health platform.
One in four adults aged 65 or older is dealing with a mental health condition—and research shows that managing older adults with untreated mental health conditions costs insurers over three times as much as managing members without behavioral health issues.
Using Vitalic’s risk stratification and predictive modeling, we’re employing the program to identify health plan members who may have a behavioral health issue but have not been diagnosed or engaged therapeutically due to stigma or other barriers to care. Vitalic then provides direct outreach and engages these members with Vitalic’s behavioral health services based on the members’ individual needs, including treatment by geriatric-trained psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, licensed therapists, and mental health support coaches.
