Martha Wolfgang

Martha Wolfgang has over 20 years-experience in hospital and health care administration in New York City. She currently serves on the NY School Based Health Foundation and Funding Arts Network Miami Boards of Directors. She has also served on the boards of Musicians on Call, the Ryan Health Care Foundation, Cathedral of St John the Divine and the Lutheran Medical Center. As Vice Chair at Lutheran, she led the committee which selected NYU Medical Center as their merger partner.

Martha also served as Vice President at the Josiah Macy Jr Foundation, whose emphasis is medical and health professional education, and as Vice President for Network Development at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. She was an adjunct lecturer at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, a member of the Health Care Executive Forum, and a co-founder of the Friends of Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan where she received a BA, MSW and MPH degree. She is married to Peter Hutchings.

Peter Hutchings

Peter Hutchings has served on the Board of Directors of VNS Health since 1999. He is currently Chairman of VNS Health Health Plans (formerly VNS Choice), its insurance entity. Previously, he also chaired VNS Health’s Finance and Quality committees.

Peter serves on the Board of the Medicare Rights Center, a NYC based not for profit advising Medicare beneficiaries and advocating policy improvements. He is an Emeritus Board member of the Rubin Museum of Art, a very special museum of Himalayan art on 17th street. He is also a Chairman Emeritus of LiveOnNY, formerly called New York Organ Donor Network, which focuses on supporting organ donation in our region. Other prior Board work includes Public Health Solutions, the Children’s Orchestra Society, and the 14th Street-Union Square Business Improvement District.

He served as Chief Financial Officer for Guardian Life; earlier he had the same role for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Greater New York, at a time when the company had a major part in designing and auditing hospital reimbursement in New York State. Peter was also a Partner at Kwasha Lipton, advising major corporations on health insurance and other benefit issues. He is a graduate of Yale University and a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries. He is married to Martha Wolfgang; their son Michael is a Professor of Mathematics at UC Berkeley, and their son Dan is a classically trained singer and a software engineer.
